Follow Our Progress

We stopped by the home improvement store and picked up another bundle of
lath. We were almost out and at $8.00 for 50 pieces, we could
afford to pick up one of them.
We spent most of the day putting up lath strips all along the left
side of the bus. We managed to get just about all of it
done. There are a few pieces here and there that will need to be
added in once we have made a decision about how to deal with the intake
vents and take the glass out of the upper windows.
 |
Becky suggested that we finish off as much of the back of the
bus as we could with the remaining plywood sheeting before
moving the fridge and stove in the way of our hallway.
We put up a bunch of lath sections so we could attach the
sheeting...
It was a pretty simple job to put up the two large sheets of
plywood. There are no hard angles to cut and only a couple
of openings - one for the latch where one window is now covered
and the other for the square window in the hallway across from
the bathroom doorway.

I tried to take a little better picture of the plywood sheeting
in the back corner of the bus. This was one of the harder
pieces to cut. Mostly because there was nothing in the
back of the bus to measure from. Both the ceiling and
engine compartment make it difficult to get an accurate
measurement.
The first piece was test fit and cut several times until we
got it just right, the other side we made by tracing the first.

The wheel wells in the back of the hallway are a bit hard to
fit, but I managed to get one side done and traced the piece for
the other side.

 |
By this time we were pretty much out of plywood that we could
use, so we switched over to framing out the end of the hallway
storage closet.

 |
I think it's going to turn out nice. We had to make a
minor change to the plan to deal with the radiator tubing that
runs to the heating system, but the location of the wall stayed
pretty much in the same spot.
The picture is from the back of the bus looking forward and
off to the left side where the hallway is.

|
I insulated the edges of the roof escape panel. We're
still not sure what we are going to do with this hole, but we
would like to have some kind of skylight that opens to allow it
to remain an emergency exit.

Becky and I are both tired and sore today. It doesn't look like
much was done, but I think we made a big dent in the lath installation
and got a good start on getting the laundry and back bedroom areas
roughed in. |
