Follow Our Progress

2003
Considering that we didn't get started on the bus until well after
noon, we managed to get a lot done today. We started off the day
searching for some inexpensive conduit that would work with the existing
wiring that we have done. We went to 3 different stores before
finding what we were looking for. We also picked up some
inexpensive fiberglass insulation while we were there.
 |
We couldn't find any insulation that was only 1.5 inches
thick, so we bought some of the thicker kind and peeled off
about 1/2 of the thickness before installing it.
We'll be able to cover twice as much area by using the left
over bare insulation to fill in and cover the odd sized spaces
that the paper backing doesn't work with anyway.
|
 |
We used some paper bag pieces here and there to cover the bare
insulation in places where we filled in with scraps. We
don't want the kids getting into the insulation before it's
covered by the plywood sheeting
It was very humid today so Becky and I wore short sleeve shirts
during the process... Needless to say, we had to come home
after a couple of hours and shower to try to stop the itching.
I'm still pretty itchy now...
The stuff is terrible to work with, but does a good job of
blocking out sound - our main goal.
|
 |
When Becky and I returned from the house we worked on getting
the plywood sheeting up to cover the insulation on the wall.
We wired the light back up for now.
Eventually there will be upper cabinets and I will install under
cabinet lighting for the kitchen. For the moment though,
we needed some light so we made use of what we had.
|
 |
We also managed to get a light put up in the hallway.
We now have lights in every area of the bus except the front
living room area. Eventually the big light on the wall in
the kitchen will be on the ceiling over the desk and the kitchen
will be lit by the under cabinet lighting.
|
That's all we had time to get done today. Tomorrow we'll
concentrate on getting the rest of the kitchen/bathroom shared wall
sheeted with plywood and see if we have time to rough in the plumbing
and/or install the outside access doors for some of the appliances that
we have.
We'll see what tomorrow brings... |
