I finally got all of the drains worked out and plumbed all of
the way to the underside of the bus.
I still need to hang the gray water tank and connect it to
the dump valve before I can finish the last connection.

I had my first major problem with the engine... I try to
start and run it for at least 1/2 hour or so every week.
The bus has started smoking pretty bad when you first start it
up and continues to smoke for a few minutes until it has warmed
up.
Today I started it up and it was a lot rougher than
usual... I let it run for about 30 minutes or so while I
was working on the plumbing.
I sat in the drivers seat and gave the bus a bit of throttle
and a TON of gray smoke came out of the exhaust... Then
the engine just started throttling up faster and faster. I
turned off the run switch, but it just kept running faster and
faster... The emergency kill switch for the bus isn't
hooked up to anything, so I grabbed my ear plugs and prepared
myself for the dash to the engine compartment to shut the air
dam manually before the engine self destructed. Before I
could make it out the door of the bus the engine finally shut
down.
I started it up again a few minutes later and headed for the
engine compartment. There was fresh oil literally bubbling
out of one of the exhaust connections. I have no clue how
bad that is, but it looks like I have some more research to do
and need to resolve the problem before the engine gets stuck
wide open again - and fix the emergency shut off switch too.

Becky and I turned our attention back to trying to clear out all
of the supplies, so we put up a few more sections of paneling
and finished the hallway.
There were a few more places that we got the paneling done,
but we spent the last couple of hours coming up with a checklist
of things that need to be done before our trip in January.
|
There's still a lot that needs our attention and we're running out of
time fast. Tomorrow we take our list and try to tackle some items
that have been holding up the rest of the paneling job. Once that
is done, we need to get everything ready for the bus to be moved,
so the gray water tank, fresh water tank and gas tanks need to be
secured under the bus ASAP.
