We worked on quite a few different things today. I've been
trying to clean out the bus by getting rid of all of the supplies that
we have...
 |
We have been looking everywhere for the right size heater vent
boxes for the vent covers we took from the trailer.
Unfortunately, it seems that they were some kind of custom made
piece, so we made a stop at the dealership to see if the trailer
that we had scavenged parts off of was still there. It
turns out that it was, so I went in the dealership and asked if
it was possible for me to get in there to grab the 2 remaining
vent boxes.
They had no problem letting me take the vent boxes out and
went out of their way to help me get into it. My
experience with them has been great...

 |
With the vent boxes from the trailer I was able to finish the
vent in the back bedroom. Emily has been anxiously waiting
for me to finish it so she could control the temperature in the
room by opening or closing the vent.
Becky and I both hate the color of the vents, so we will be
painting them something a bit more pleasing once we have
finished with the main projects.

I spent some time today working on the electrical...
Becky and I decided that we needed a plug near the stairs to
the bus for some LED lights that we spotted on our recent stop
at the home improvement store. I also wanted to get some
wire run to the area near the new wood stove so that I have the
option of installing a blower or powering a pellet stove if we
decide to upgrade later.
|
 |
The refrigerator wall has a new switch and plug.
I hope to make this area the home for the entertainment
center and computer, so I still have some wire to run. I
figure that I still need to run coaxial cable, a phone line and
speaker wire to the location. I was also thinking of
running CAT5 cable for the computer, but I have a wireless
router so it's not all that critical.

 |
The last task of the day was to get the vent pipes for the black
and gray water tanks through the roof.
We've been putting up with some of the smell that has been
trapped under the bus since the black water tank was
installed. Now that we have made a final decision on the
location of the vents, I was able to go ahead and cut the holes
for them.
Everything went pretty smoothly....
|
 |
I like the way the vents turned out. They will both be
easy to conceal in a cabinet assembly above the toilet.
The only regret that I have is that there is basically no way
for me to use a standard vent cover... The pipes are only
about 2 inches apart, so I will have to manufacture some kind of
flashing or resort to the "goop" method to keep them
from leaking when it rains. I'll make it work fine.
|
Tomorrow Becky and the girls are going to a birthday party for a
friend. Becky has some shopping to do and will be away for a
while, so I will most likely work on the bus alone tomorrow. I'm
not sure what I'll be in the mood to work on, but I am sure I'll find
lots to keep me busy. |
