Becky and I are slowly recovering from our colds. I'm still
feeling a few symptoms, but not enough to keep me away from the bus
today.
I forgot to take the camera with me this morning. It's too bad,
because it snowed a few inches and I so badly wanted to get a picture of
the bus with snow all over it.
Becky and I spent most of the day today cleaning up. The bus
has turned into a junk pile lately with all of the tools, wood,
plumbing, gas and electrical supplies everywhere. We managed to
get things back under control and take care of a few minor projects.
One of the things we took care of was a remaining piece of metal
riser just behind the drivers seat. I had been dreading removing
the last piece because it required some delicate work around the main
wires that run into the control panel of the bus. To get at the
last piece I had to move the electrical panel out of the way and
disconnect the pneumatic controls for the door.
It took us about an hour or so to pull the electrical panel out of
the way and unscrew the 4 screws that were holding the last of the old
floor riser in place. We found out that some of the wiring for the
bus was very close to shorting out, so it was worth all of the work to
remove the offending piece of metal.
We also fixed a short in the dome lighting of the bus. Somehow
when we reassembled the ceiling in the bathroom (when we installed the
florescent fixture) I managed to put one of the screws through the
wiring for the dome lights. We found the problem, patched the
wiring and it works perfectly again.

We don't have any pictures of the bus, but we did manage to get
some pictures of the kids playing in the snow.
It's all melted away already, so I missed my chance to get a
photo of the bus in the snow. It so rarely snows here, so
the next opportunity we may have to get a picture of the bus in
the snow will probably be when we drive it there...

We spent the rest of the day hunting around for parts for the heater
vents with no luck. Hopefully tomorrow we will be able to work
outside long enough to get some of the paneling or cabinet work
done. There's not enough room in the bus to cut the full 4x8
sheets and there's not enough cover outside, so we have to wait for a
break in the rain and work on smaller projects for now. |
