Another day, another ruin. This is the
Sinagua cliff dwellings. Actually, it's a picture of ruins
across the canyon from where they let you walk. I have no
idea how the original dwellers got to their homes. At the
information center we learned that the average life expectancy
for these people was 30-50 and they lost more than half their
children at a young age. Looking at some of the sheer drop
offs just feet from their front doors, it's not hard to imagine
how some of them met their doom. |

We got to look at these close up. We thought
we got a good walk in yesterday, but this one was much more
treacherous, and had a lot of stairs to get down to the
ruins. |

This is more of the canyon. It's hard to
tell from the photo, but there are a lot more cliff homes tucked
in under the rock overhangs all along the canyon. We
picked out several dozen. |
