Follow Our Progress

June 28th 2004

I just thought that I'd update the web site with what has been going on.  We've got all of our personal belongings out of the bus now and have been working the past few days on cleaning everything up.  We took the camera yesterday to take some pictures for the new owners.  They were really interested in seeing more of the inside of the bus.  I guess I thought that we had pretty much covered everything on the web site, but it turns out that I couldn't find a lot of recent interior pictures on this site either...

You can use the original floor plan we put together above to kind of follow along on the tour...  We obviously didn't get everything on the floor plan done (like all of the upper cabinets), but it does show you what we had planned for the finished design and might help to understand the images below.

The front of the bus viewed from in front of the refrigerator looking forward.

The right side of the bus showing the front door, fireplace, propane heater and corner of the refrigerator.

The refrigerator.

The stove and kitchen counters.

The kitchen counters, stove and sink.

The whole kitchen and living area looking toward the back of the bus while standing in front of the fireplace.

The hallway.  You can make out the bathroom door on the left (the plastic shower curtain is just inside) and the wall at the end of the hall makes the side of the closet and blocks any direct view to the back bedroom.

Some fancy photography <grin>.  You would have to be inside the bathroom vanity mirror to see this view of the bathroom shower.  I took the picture in the mirror and then did some mirror imaging to show it correctly.  The light wall to the right is the side of the storage closet in the bathroom.

Looking forward into the bathroom from the hallway.  You mainly see the storage closet to the left and the sink next to the window.

Looking toward the back of the bathroom from the hallway.  The wall to the right in this image is the edge of the shower interior.  The front edge of the toilet is just barely visible.

More trick photography...   The toilet as seen from the bathroom sink.  I wish I had been able to finish the cabinet above the toilet.  It would have covered over the vent pipes that come up from the black and gray water tanks.

Another shot from the bathroom sink showing the toilet.  I really should have cleaned the bathroom mirror before taking this shot <yuck>...

The bathroom sink and cabinet storage.  The trap for the bathroom sink had a leak when we first installed it so there is a bit of a water stain there.  We'll have to paint the MDF there to make it look nice again.

The big storage cabinet in the bathroom as it looks standing in front of the toilet looking forward and toward the hallway.  I couldn't get more than 1/2 the cabinet in the picture.  There are 2 more shelves above that can't be seen here.

The closet area behind the bathroom.  The washer & dryer lived on the shelf on the left and all of our portable storage drawers were in the place where the unfinished cabinet doors are stacked.

Erika standing on the shelf where the washer and dryer unit was located.  There are supply lines and a drain for the washer and a dryer vent that goes under the bus.

Emily's side of the back bedroom.  There's a small desktop between the beds.  The desktop can be removed to access the engine compartment hatch underneith.

Erika's side of the back bedroom.  The board that conceals the back window of the bus covers a pretty good sized storage area.  I had planned to put in some cabinet doors and a couple of shelves...

The storage cabinet at the end of the hall.  I took this picture while standing in the doorway to the back bedroom facing forward.  The hallway to the front of the bus is just past the closet.

The couch just behind the driver's seat and across from the fireplace.  You can see some of the monitors and control panels for the electrical next to and on the side of the the couch platform.

The electrical panels.  From left to right - AC breaker box/DC fuse box combination, an outlet, the solar charge controller & display panel and the remote panel for the inverter/charge controller located under the couch.

One of the two fantastic fans located in the ceiling.  This is a picture of the one located over the couch as seen from the front of the bus looking toward the back (kitchen) area.

The dash panel for the bus.  Believe it or not, the little tiny metal switch on the far left side of the panel (below the air pressure gauge and above the row of warning lights) is the automatic transmission.  Up for drive, in the middle for neutral and down for reverse.  Most people think I am kidding when I point to that little switch and say that it is the gear shift...

The side control panel where you control the parking brake, air conditioning system, lights, etc.  The big round switch is the ignition switch.  The starter button is the little black button to the left of the red emergency shut off switch.  It's a bit intimidating to see all of those buttons and switches, but you really only regularly use the ignition, brake and starter before taking off.

Well, I hope that helps to give everyone some idea of what the bus looks like inside.  Becky and I have a lot of cleaning left to do before the new owners take delivery...  We haven't heard anything from them in a couple of days, hopefully we'll hear from them tonight.
