2004
It's been a while since I have had a chance to post anything.
We put the bus up for sale on eBay with little success. Things
have started to come together for us the past couple of days though.
We went on a beautiful canoe trip down the eel river this
weekend. I have a major sunburn despite large quantities of
sunscreen. We spent the night on the beach and had a wonderful
time visiting with old friends and hanging out by the fire with
family. I forgot how nice it is to have family around...
We have not done much advertising for the bus locally. Becky
made up a bunch of fliers, but we have not been very good about hanging
them up around town. I am afraid that the bus will never sell for
anything near what we have invested... I may end up parting the
whole thing out and selling it as a bare bones conversion just to
recover some of the money we spent. It's pretty depressing to
think that individually all of the items we added to the bus add up to
more than $20,000 but combined together in the form of the conversion -
they're basically worth a lot less. Silly, but it's all about
packaging these days... Put a bunch of crappy equipment in a
really cute 5th wheel or underpowered & overloaded (but fancy
looking) RV and you can sell it for big bucks, but an old bus is just an
old bus no matter what it has inside... That about sums up how I
am feeling. I feel old too. I wonder if my packaging is too
worn to be worth anything too.
It's time for me to go back to work and pay for the silly choices
that I have made over the past year. It was a lot of fun and
taught me a lot about converting a bus and life in general.
If anyone is looking for a slightly used web application developer or
database architect or computer technician, let
me know. I still have a few good years left in me and I need a
job to help pay for our new apartment in California <grin>. |
