It's early in the morning here in the desert. I've been getting
a lot of email about selling the bus... I don't want to sell
it. It's been so much work to get to this point.
Becky and I want to get out of the desert. We've been invited
to stay with Becky's dad up in Minnesota, so we're still scrambling to
get the bus painted, put back together and headed North. Our
initial calculation is that it will take about a week to get there and
$700.00 worth of diesel. That's just about all the money we have
left at this point, so hopefully the trip will go smoothly.
There's not much (other than the transmission leak) that can go wrong
with the bus. Everything else on the bus is in good shape.
We need to stop off in Missouri to visit with my grandparents.
They live in Moberly which is only about 200 miles or so off our
route. We promised them last summer that we'd make an effort to
visit them this summer, so we're going to do our best to keep that
promise - although we may only be able to stop in for a relatively short
visit.
I'm going to move the bus to a new location today. Our new
friend Dean has offered to lend us his yard for the next few days to
paint the bus and possibly work on fixing or slowing the transmission
leak before we hit the road again.
I've got a lot of work to do to get the bus over to Dean's
place. More later...
