Yesterday I got a call letting me know that the police had put a
warning sticker on the bus. Apparently someone complained that we were
living in the bus. I figure that one of the cars that drove by the
bus and saw me scrubbing down the interior must have thought that I was
living in it and called the police. The warning states that
camping within city limits is prohibited and that the officer that
inspected the vehicle believes it to be abandoned. It will be
towed (yea right) at my expense if I don't move it within 10 days.
We have already called around to every RV storage place in
town. One of the only places that will accept the bus
(yes that's right, the other's flat out refused to store the bus at any
cost) wants $100.00 deposit and $80.00 per month to let me park it in an
open marsh. I'm convinced it's going to sink, but I don't have a
hell of a lot of choice at this point. We're not sure when the new
owners will come and take the bus away, so for now it will have to move
and we'll have to pay for storage. Oh well...
My mom called tonight to say that there is an envelope from Sioux
Falls South Dakota. Hopefully it is the down payment on the
bus. That would make things a lot easier on us. I was really
worried that the buyers were going to back out and leave us hanging with
the fees from the auction. I guess I was wrong. Things have
been going so wrong for us for the past few weeks that I have become
skeptical of anyone's word anymore.
I'll pick up the envelope tomorrow and we'll see what the near future
has in store for us.
