I didn't take the camera with me today, so you'll just have to use your imagination...
We took the Jeep into Quartzsite to check out the "big tent" and all of the RV related stuff that we've been hearing so much hype about. Well, that's pretty much all it is - HYPE. The place was crawling with people dying to part with their money... I have not had the chance to go exploring outside of the big tent much, but so far I can sum it up for you by saying that if you don't like kettle corn or want to "invest" in a time share on any one of 20 different "exotic" locations, you can skip the big tent all together. The few items that I found that were of interest to me were more expensive than I found them at RV stores at home. In addition, you have to pay tax for everything (which we don't have to do back in Oregon where the items are cheaper).

That all being said, Quartzsite has a lot to offer away from the hype. Everyone that we have met here boondocking has been absolutely wonderful. Everyone is smiling and the information that they have to share is priceless. The weather here is great. It gets pretty cold in the evenings, but during the day it's been really comfortable (around 70-75 degrees). In the sun it feels a lot hotter.

We have a flier from one of the solar places here in Arizona that has Photowatt panels on sale.  I talked to the main guy Larry and he said that they were going to come out to the site where we are hanging out and bring some goodies, but it's 8:00 already now, so I doubt that he'll actually show up.  Too bad for him - I'm ready to go solar ASAP.  I called again this afternoon and got no answer.  It could be that he's full of it.  His prices are way lower than anyone else I have seen so far - and of course he's currently out of stock on everything...  Oh well, time to relax for the day.

I have an idea that might be kind of fun.  Since I am here in Quartzsite and a lot of people have e-mailed me saying that they wish they could be here too, I thought that I'd put up the following offer:

If you wanted to see something here in particular, let us know and we'll take the camera with us and post the images here on the web site.  That will force us to go exploring in places that we may not have bothered to visit otherwise.  So, let us know what you want to see or what you would have liked to check out if you had been able to come too and we'll do our best to post photos and let you know what we found.  Sound good?

e-mail us at busnuts@virtualplacebo.com.  We check e-mail at 9:00 or so every evening and will try to respond by the next day...
