Follow Our Progress

February 2nd 2004
Well, we're back home in Eugene Oregon. It feels good to be
home even though we had a lot of fun on our trip to Quartzsite. It
looks like we're going to be heading back to Arizona in a month or so
(hopefully) to stay for a while. We're pulling up roots here in
Eugene and heading off for better weather and a bit more freedom.

We had a good couple of days visiting with the
family in Northern California.
The drive home was nice. We took 101 along the coast
and were treated to some spectacular views of the ocean.
What a change from the last couple of weeks in the cactus and
brush of the desert... |

By the afternoon the weather took a turn for the
worse and we decided to stop for the night at one of the local
state parks and finish our trip home in the morning.
When we arrived at the state park it was already dark and we
found that there were no sites big enough to park even the bus
without the Jeep... The camp book we had from AAA stated
that the park had sites to accommodate 65'... I can't
imagine. even a 30' trailer would have been tricky at best
to back into any of the spots. We decided to keep going
and look for something a bit more realistic.
We ended up driving for about another 45 minutes before we
found the Mill Casino in Coos Bay. The lot was basically
empty and according to the signs there were no fees. We
had a very nice and uneventful stay there. So far the
casino RV parking areas have turned out to be some of the nicest
places to stay on our trip... |

We arrived home early this morning.
I spent about 2 hours on the phone looking for a place that I
could store the bus while I finished up a bit of work on
it. None of the local RV parks wanted to have anything to
do with a "work in progress", so I turned to the local
RV storage places.
This afternoon I finally found one that had everything we
needed and was willing to let me work on the few remaining items
that need to be done.
The garage is locked by key code and has lights, 30 Amp hook
up, bathroom, dump and 24x7 access. I paid $250.00 for the
month (plus a deposit) to ensure that I would have a clean and
dry place to work on the bus. The best part is that I can
lock everything up at night and don't have to worry about my
tools and supplies growing legs. The bus is also only
about 5 minutes from the house which makes it easier to get
to... |
So, that about sums up the days events. We have a place to
store the bus for the next month while we pull up roots and get ready to
leave the area for a while. We finally have a "goal" and
some idea of where we want to head to next. We're still working
out things like mail delivery, working from the bus and what to do with
a whole house full of appliances and things. We've got our work
cut out for us, but at least we have a new adventure to look forward
to... |
