Follow Our Progress

February 26th 2004

We spent some time working on the bus today again.  We're finally getting into a pattern.  It's been difficult to get out to the bus and manage to get some work done with all of the other work getting everything ready to move to Arizona and rebuilding my laptop from the latest Microsoft induced coma...

As you can see, we've been pretty busy working on the interior again.  The cabinet doors went back on today now that the paint is dry.

I managed to get a couple of sections of the side wall cabinet constructed today.  I ran out of 1x2 and MDF, so tomorrow I'll continue on that project.

With the cabinet doors back on in the bathroom we have a ton of hidden storage.

I also installed a nice big vanity mirror with a built in cabinet, but the camera ran out of disk space, so I'll have to get a picture of it tomorrow.  It's no wonder that it ran out of space, it has all of the photos from our trip to Quartzsite on it (over 240 of them)...

Since our gas oven is above the stove, we score a nice big storage space under the counter.  The cabinet door that was originally under the stove in the trailer went right back where it belongs in the bus...
We made good use of the storage space by installing a couple of slide out storage bins.  Becky has been really worried about finding storage for all of the food and kitchen related stuff we have, so this was my quick and easy solution.

I bought some extra slide out storage units for the other cabinet, but it looks like the drain pipe on the sink will be in the way, so I'll have to come up with something else for that cabinet.

Part of the day was spent patching some of the old vent holes in the floor.  Becky and I were waiting to make a final decision on whether or not we were ever going to use the bus's built in heater again.  It's not very practical to run the engine on the bus just to run the blower motors...  The final decision was not to decide...  We covered the vent hole and installed a vent cover so we could close or open it as needed.  Problem solved for now.

Tomorrow we'll concentrate on getting the side wall cabinet done so the rest of the electrical will be out of sight.  Things are beginning to look kind of nice again.
