We had someone from the auto glass repair shop out at the bus
today. He took a look at the front windshield and rear sliding
windows... Looks like the front windshield can be salvaged to some
degree. The rubber is in good enough shape so that they could just
re-seal everything up and it would look a lot better and stop the
leaks. The back windows are a different story. He took a
piece of the window rubber with him to see if their company can get some
for them. Hopefully I'll hear back about that in the next few
days.

Becky and I managed to get a little work done on the kitchen
today. We started off by gluing the laminate on to the
countertop.
The fumes from the contact cement are really strong.
Even with both fans running it was hard to tolerate the smell.

The installation went pretty smoothly. We managed to get
all of the pieces lined up and the single seam is barely noticeable.

The next task was to measure and cut the opening for the
sink. I managed to get the measurements pretty close on
the first try. I had to remove about a blade width or so
extra material from the back side to get the sink all of the way
flush.

Last step was to drill holes for the faucet and soap dispenser.
I forgot to hook up the extension for the faucet before
testing and shot quite a bit of water on the floor when I went
to check for leaks. It made me laugh pretty hard.
The soap dispenser is a nice touch and keeps the counter
clear of bottles.

Both Erika and Emily helped test out the new sink...
It will be nice having a sink accessible in the living area
and not have to go into the bathroom to wash out rags and clean
up parts.

Not a lot done in one day, but it has been nice to work on things
that the family can immediately see the results of. Tomorrow I
have to deal with replacing or filling the gas canisters. We need
the heater running again and it would be nice to have hot water again as
well. |
