Follow Our Progress

December 4th 2003

We worked really late tonight, so I am a little tired tonight...

Our friends Dave and Ellen were nice enough to give us a full size futon bed that they were no longer using.  They brought it by the house last night, so this morning we took it to the bus and tried it on the new platform that we built.

It was a pain in the neck to fold the futon to make it into a couch, but once we had it, it was actually really comfortable.

Emily spent most of the morning crawling all over the futon and playing with various things she found.

I believe that Becky has decided that she wants something easier to manage than the futon, so at some point down the road we'll swap the futon for a foldable foam bed.

We didn't have enough MDF to work on the kitchen cabinets today, so Becky and I decided to go ahead and finish off the face of the refrigerator cabinet.  It was very cold and raining outside, so we put up our makeshift canopy and went to work...

We also put up a temporary light where the computer and entertainment center will eventually be to get some decent light in the front of the bus.

The refrigerator cabinet turned out pretty nice I think...  It still needs a bit of trim and Becky needs to paint the copper colored refrigerator door trim silver to match the rest of the appliances.

I found the cabinet door that was above the refrigerator in the trailer that we stripped.  It fit perfectly and doesn't look too bad in the space we provided.

The other side of the refrigerator cabinet is all primed and ready for the kitchen cabinets to go in.

We spent about half an hour admiring our handiwork and talking about the sleep over this weekend.  It turns out that one of Tedd's boys came down with a fever tonight, so we may be sleeping over at the bus without the company of our friends.

Erika and Emily are not all that excited about having a sleep over without their friends, but we assured them that we would find a way to make it fun anyway...

The girls have been kind of disappointed since the
weather has been so bad.  They are not able to play outside on the play structure and get tired of watching movies.

I decided to put up a "monkey bar" in their doorway.  I bought the pieces for the bar a long time ago and have been promising Erika that I would hang it somewhere for her for quite some time.  Today we took some time out and put it up.

Emily had it all to herself until Erika got off school.  Then Erika played on it so much that she is now sporting 2 pretty good sized blisters on her left hand.  She's a trooper and once a bandaid was in place went right back to swinging on the bar...

I just had to take a picture of my hard work cleaning the ceiling of the bus.  Today I took on the center lighting strip along with another panel.

As you can see, I've made it to the front side of the refrigerator now...  Tomorrow I'll try to get the whole next section clean (which includes 2 panels and the center section).  My arms are getting a bit stronger now with all of the scrubbing and I think I can do a whole section tomorrow before we head back home.
