Follow Our Progress

April 12th 2004

Yesterday we drove to Phoenix Arizona for an Easter brunch at my Uncle Robert and Aunt Nancy's home.  There were quite a few other relatives there to visit with and we had a good time listening to the conversation around the brunch table.

Becky and I had never been to their home before and had heard stories about how beautiful it is...  Well, it was fantastic.  Everything was gorgeous and the house and gardens were fun to explore.  We forgot to take the camera with us, so we don't have any pictures of the day's activities.

The girls got to swim and participated in an egg hunt that turned a bit trickier when Uncle Bertram hid one of the eggs in his pocket and didn't tell anyone - we searched for quite some time for the missing egg before he finally confessed...  Everyone had a lot of fun.  I played volleyball for part of the afternoon and had a blast learning the rules and how to play each position on the court.  I forgot how much fun it was to play and compete a little.  I really have not been playing enough and need to do things like that more often.

We took a short break at one of the rest areas near Dragoon.  The hillside there is really neat.  Erosion has created a bunch of round rocks that look as if they have been balanced carefully on top of each other.
Last night we spent the night at the home of our cousin's David, Kirsten and their daughter Olivia.  We stayed up late talking about things that are going on in all of our lives and had a really good time.

In the morning Erika and Emily played with Olivia and built a big castle out of all of the couch cushions.

The dog spent almost every waking moment playing in the swimming pool and trying to coax Killi (David and Kirsten's boxer) into going swimming with her.  Zoe is definitely a water dog and does not need anyone to convince her to play.

We left Phoenix around noon and headed back home to the bus.  About 5 minutes after we arrived at the bus, Becky's dad (A.J.) and step mom (Kathy) pulled in the driveway.  We spent the evening catching up and relaxing in front of the fireplace.  Tomorrow we plan to go exploring a bit...
